New classic detectives fanfic archive [16 Jan 2009|08:26pm]

[ mood | optimistic ]

Hello all! I'm not sure anyone's still here, since it looks like this comm has been quiet for a few months, but I thought I'd drop in anyway and let you all know about a new fanfic archive I've opened. It's not very stocked yet, but there's only one way to fix that! :-)

Partners in Crime (yes, named after the second adventure for the couple in my icon *g*) is a new fanfic archive highlighting fiction's greatest detective couples (or at least my and my friends' favorites!). This includes Lord Peter and Harriet, Tommy and Tuppence, Campion and Amanda, etc. and I'm always taking suggestions for new additions too (though whether I add them or not is at my discretion. :-)

Would love to see some of you there!

agatha_stills [12 Jun 2008|09:13pm]

They asked for it...

She was known as "The Queen of Crime" and her books have captured the imaginations of generations of readers. Today, Agatha Christie remains the most popular novelist in history, with over two billion copies of her books sold.

And now, she has entered the world of icontests. agatha_stills is a new Agatha Christie icontest, specially designed for those who love mysteries! Challenges will range from series such as Poirot and Miss Marple, to Academy Award winning films like Murder on the Orient Express, text icon challenges with famous catch phrases and quotes, minor character themes (Inspectors Japp and Slack, Captain Hastings or Ms. Lemon), book covers, the life and times of the author and even Agatha Christie herself!

First challenge will be posted shortly!

Gaudy Night Part I [11 Mar 2008|07:46pm]

In celebration of a completely new layout at ogeecons and as a thank you to everyone who has been waiting very very patiently, I give you - Gaudy Night Part I!

This is the third of Dorothy L. Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane books and was butchered horribly when they translated it to the screen. So, I have tried to augment the images with quotes from the book as well as the movie. This the the first of probably three posts for this particular movie, so if there's something you're looking for and not seeing please request it.

The 1987 BBC production starred Edward Peterbridge as Lord Peter and Harriet Walter as Harriet Vane.

Twelve icons [18 Feb 2008|05:38pm]

I've been a sort of silent member here for some months now, but having spent the weekend happily curled up with Lord Peter Views the Body and reacquainting myself with the adorableness that is the little Viscount St George, I decided that at least one icon was in order. Then, as I spent today conveniently snowbound, I finally got around to making a few other things to share!

I'm not yet as talented at this as some members here seem to be, but this is my offering anyhow- a dozen Lord Peter icons, some with pictures and some without.

Linked to my journal.

Newness... [08 Jul 2007|10:16pm]

[ mood | nervous ]

*nervous wave*

Um... hallo? I'm sorry if this is a "bad" post, I just thought I should introduce myself - is that alright? If not, I'll delete this of course... Just to say "hallo", and I'm a big fan of Lord Peter Wimsey, which is why I'm here... I have drabbles, if this is a community where we're allowed to post drabbles?

So, er... yes. I'd hoped to be a bit more coherent than this, and be able to dazzle you all with my wit - well, sort of. Maybe. Possibly? - but, I guess the dazzling will just have to wait...

Right. Yes - so, thank you, and hallo!

poirot fics at yuletide [19 Jan 2007|11:54am]

I noticed two Poirot fics up at Yuletide this year -

Ennui, by Tigerbright. What does Hercule Poirot do when he is bored?

Coffee and Cognac, by Gwenhwyvar. (Poirot/Hastings) Hastings has always admired Poirot.

Intro [27 Sep 2006|03:00pm]

Hello, I'm new here.  So, is this an Agatha Christie fan community or mystery novels in general?  There seem to be quite a few Sherlock Holmes fans here too.  I love both, but I have to confess I've never read any other mystery writers, unless you count Edgar Allen Poe.  But I'm an avid Christie and Holmes fan!
